Why Dunstable Glass?
What is Double Glazing?
Double glazing is the process of air or glass being trapped between two panes of glass, usually in a gap around 16mm wide. Additionally to the added insulation of the second layer of glass, the air acts as a third layer, which enhances the insulation even further. Not only will this increase insulation, but it also will help to reduce condensation and noise pollution from outside sources. This is excellently beneficial for those living in heavily populated or residential areas, such as Dunstable and Luton.
In Double Glazing, the panes are separated using spacers. Pane spacers can come in a variety of materials, however, the most efficient materials are ones that contain little or no metal. This is as metal is a well-known conductor of heat. Air or special gas such as argon, xenon, and krypton are also commonly used to fill between the panes due to their insulating properties. Using air to fill gaps instead of insulating gases is not as effective, however, it is a cheaper alternative that will definitely perform better than single glazing would
In our range of double glazed windows, we only use the most energy-efficient glass, called low emissivity or ‘Low E’ glass.
This glass uses an invisible metal oxide coating that helps prevent heat from escaping, whilst allowing light to naturally pass-through unobstructed.
Dunstable Glass uses argon gas in our energy-efficient windows as it helps reduce heat transfer from the inside to the outside of your home. Our specialist rated A+ window also uses thermal inserts, providing added thermal efficiency. Please do not hesitate to contact our team for more information.
